|
Moon came from KY and before she traveled, she was side swipped by a car and we did notice she favored her back right leg. We visited with a vet upon her arrival to WI, and she has a broken pelvis and right femoral neck fracture. This vet referred us to an orthopedic surgeon.
After the specialist reviewed the xrays - he indicated FHO surgery could be done but may be very difficult because of the growth plates. This can cause issues as she grows and may require additional surgeries that may or may not work. The other option is amputation of that back leg.
Moon had her surgery on July 18 and she is doing very well. We opted for the FHO and so far she is tolerating the recovery. The leg was much shorter than anticipated, so we will know in about 10 weeks if she will need another surgery to amputate the leg.
Moon is a resilient and VERY smart girl. She loves other dogs, and is ok with cats and loves kids. She listens well and is housetrained and crate trained. These are German Shepherds and can have some strong personality traits. Please do your homework on this breed before applying!
She will be available for adoption once her recovery is complete. If you are serious about adopting please fill out an application at our website https://pawsuppetrescue18.rescuegroups.org/
